Skin cancer is one of the most common formThanks to biological research, we know that too much ultraviolet light can cause skin cancer and early wrinkling of the skin. Scientists say that serious sunburns when we are young can lead to skin cancer later in life.

Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer and although there are different types of skin cancers, in all the types, some skin cells grow much faster than normal and can invade surrounding parts of the body. Most skin cancer can be easily cured if caught early. However, If not caught early, some skin cancers can be fatal.

In the United States, more and more people are getting skin cancer every year. Scientists say this is because people have been spending more time outdoors without protecting themselves from the sun. Some scientists also suspect that the thinning ozone layer in the earth’s upper atmosphere may be related to the increasing number of skin cancer cases. Being a form of oxygen, ozone normally stops much UV light from reaching us.

You can easily prevent skin cancer and other skin damage caused by the sun by following some simple rules. The most important rule is to take good care of your skin and in return it will take good care of you. As apart from being the largest organ that your body has, your skin works for you in many ways.

It provides a protective cover for your body. Your skin is home to some white blood cells, which help your immune system fight bacteria, viruses and other harmful substances. And by making a body chemical that turns into Vitamin D when exposed to small amounts of sunlight, your skin helps build strong bones and teeth.

And your skins nerve cells also help you to feel pain, heat and other sensations. To take good care of your skin, you should wash it regularly, always keep it protected from the sun and use a good moisturizer when it’s dry.

The color of your skin depends on a substance called melanin which is the reason why you go brown, its a pigment in your skin made by your skin cells called melanocytes, which acts as a natural sunscreen. The skin makes more melanin when it’s triggered by exposure to UV light, such as the suns rays.

The melanin granules in your skins epidermis then become darker and provide a natural sun filter, this is what produces a tan in people with a light skin tone after sun exposure. The amount that you have and its protective capacity varies from person to person.

This amount will also determine whether your skin tans or burns. Melanin alone, however, is not enough to protect your skin from the sun’s damage as ultra violet light will always be able to penetrate through this barrier.
