The term ‘bronzer’ refers to a variety of products used to achieve a temporary tanned appearance.
The body bronzer will give your skin a sun kissed type of look with a temporary glow. The look is sheer and pretty, giving your existing color a boost that’s great for both day and evening. Some are applied topically to stain the skin temporarily.
Usually, soap and water will remove them. They may streak after application and, when wet, some may stain clothing. They are ideal for those who want a temporary tan that will wash away in the shower. Safe to use anywhere on the body, the bronzer can also be used to fill in tan lines and help even out skin tones.
Among other products marketed as bronzers are tinted moisturizers and brush on powders. These also produce a temporary effect, similar to other types of makeup. Still others are combination products that also contain DHA.
The brush on powdered type, make up bronzers are designed to enhance the coloring on your face. Use of these is mainly on the forehead, chin and cheeks.
Tinted make up moisturizers are also used on the face as a replacement for your foundation base and are designed to give your skin a natural glow, without the look of being made up with make up.
Apart from bronzers the other self tanning options include:
Lotions
Self tanning lotions or milk glide on easily, have a very light texture feel to them and won’t leave your skin feeling all sticky or clammy. These lotion type self tanners will give your skin a nice even all round coloring.
Creams
Self tanning creams are a bit heavy in texture, but despite that, they are surprisingly easy to apply. The self tanning creams will moisturize your skin very deeply, making them an excellent choice for those who have dry skin.
Sprays
Self tanning sprays are relatively easy to manage, even if you happen to be a first time user. The sprays will also give your skin an even coloring.
Gels
Self tanning gels are the ideal choice for you if you have oily skin. These gels are also very cooling to the skin also.
Sunless tanners and bronzers may or may not contain sunscreen ingredients or be labeled with SPF numbers, so always read the labeling carefully to determine whether or not these products provide adequate protection from the sun and always apply a moisturizer to your tan every day.
