Symptoms of actinic keratosis

The ultraviolet radiation (UV) radiation in sunlight can damage the basal cells of the skin. These will then start to divide more rapidly in the damaged area and stratum corneum of the epidermis has time to not be knocked over in a normal manner. It occurs when an area of abnormal cells and the thickened horny layer. One or more lesions of actinic keratosis have been formed.
Most common symptoms of actinic keratosis are one or more brown-red, scaly patches, which are often a few millimeters in diameter. The spot often feels scratchy to touch them.
