He used the leaves and flowers, with an eye drop is prepared as follows:
Heat a pint of water in a new or very clean container in introducing 0.5 ounces of herbs. After 10 minutes pour the liquid, cover and allow to settle.
Finally, strained, and when cold, applied as compresses or eye bath.

These eyedrops are kept in a glass bottle properly capped. It is recommended not to use it when you have a few days.
Instead, they often must be prepared at least twice a week.

Another way to use is taking it in tincture, ten drops (2 to 6 ml.) Twice daily. It Eyebright tea, made with the same formula described above, you can drink in the amount two to three cups per day.
In both cases, their use is as an aperitif and for stomach disorders, being bitter.

Geographical origin and habitat of eyebright
The Eyebright is the only British species whose genes are contained in 20 species distributed throughout Europe, North and West Asia and North America.

European varieties grow wild in meadows, pastures and grassy places in Bulgaria, Hungary and former Yugoslavia. The Eyebright is also grown commercially on the continent.

Its cultivation in home gardens is not easy, because it must be “protected” with Grama. The reason for this is that it is Hemiparasite that needs nourishment, in part, with the roots of other plants.

Chemical compounds and applications of eyebright
Eyebright contains a glucoside analogous to rinantina aucubin or a tannic acid itself, something of substance, and aromatic resinous materials. It is also extremely rich in vitamin A and vitamin C. It also contains moderate amounts of the B, D, and traces of E.
Also iron, silicon, traces of iodine, copper and zinc.
