Organic food: Some communities (departments) authorities are subsidizing school meals so that parents pay the same for food and instead enjoy a healthy meal (not been grown with pesticides or any chemicals) and more flavorful.

Buy directly from small local producers: some schools are organized to buy, to the extent possible, the maximum number of foods directly to small local producers. On the one hand always get a good price because there are no middlemen, the producer receives a fair price and food should not be transported very far from contributing to less pollution.

Assist in the organic waste recycling: many cities already have collection of organic waste (food scraps) School canteens generate a lot of leftovers and if we teach students to throw the leftovers into suitable containers are more likely to do likewise at home. It is a good awareness of the environment.
